Processing Lab Assistant 1
About the Role
Streck is looking for a detail-oriented Processing Assistant 1 to join our Processing team. In this hands-on laboratory role, you'll play a critical part in the early stages of manufacturing — receiving, washing, filtering, and batching incoming Red Blood Cell packs to keep our production schedules on track. If you take pride in precision, thrive in a clean, structured lab environment, and want your work to genuinely matter, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
- Complete raw material sampling and check-in procedures for incoming materials.
- Aseptically transfer Red Blood Cell packs into blood bottles and prepare verification and micro samples.
- Support the initial washing, batching, and filtering of incoming RBC packs, including setting up aspirating pumps and fill stations.
- Follow Standard Operating Procedures to keep production organized and compliant.
- Maintain clean work areas using proper aseptic and hand-washing techniques.
- Keep management informed on production schedules, process issues, and personnel concerns.
- Comply with departmental and company safety guidelines, including FDA and ISO regulations.
- Accurately document component usage and adhere to established Quality Systems.
- Contribute ideas for improving processes through cost, time, and labor savings.
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A dependable, organized approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A proven, solid work history.
- Prior laboratory experience is a plus, but not required.
- Comfort working with computers and basic office/lab software.
- Ability to perform general arithmetic and accurately measure, pour, and decant liquids.
Skills You'll Use
- Operating laboratory equipment such as aspirators, centrifuges, auto-fillers, and peristaltic pumps.
- Tracking multiple samples across different instruments and maintaining accurate printouts.
- Reading and understanding Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Work Environment
This role is based in a climate-controlled biological/chemical laboratory, with occasional short periods in walk-in coolers. You'll wear required lab attire (lab coat, hair bonnet, and beard cover as applicable) along with PPE such as masks, gloves, and face shields for up to two and a half hours at a time. The role involves standing, walking, lifting up to 40 pounds occasionally, and other physical activity typical of a hands-on production environment. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
