SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for supervising the work of the BCT department. Primary duties include working in collaboration with other departments to coordinate daily activities, maintaining inventory, implementing new equipment/automation, and engaging in continuous improvement activities. This position will write/revise procedures, train employees, evaluate department personnel, and ensure strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (including FDA and ISO Quality Systems). This position is also responsible for other duties as assigned by Management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS:
1.Supervise automated and manual BCT department activities ensuring tasks are completed according to the schedule and with strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and maintain Quality System Requirements.
2.Demonstrate competency for all procedures performed in the department. Assist with completion of all daily activities and assume duties of Operators in their absence if necessary.
3.Schedule and plan all departmental functions including product improvement projects, department personnel vacations/sick leave/overtime, employee responsibilities, production schedules and meetings to discuss production problems or new products.
4.Ensure that proper documentation is prepared in advance of operations and maintain control of documents for in-process products.
5.Maintain a clean and organized work area. Ensure a sanitary environment by enforcing strict adherence to the cleaning and disinfection program.
6.Recruit, hire and train department employees. Work in coordination with Production Manager and Human Resources, proactively addressing all personnel issues that arise.
7.Conduct regular performance evaluations for all personnel according to company policy.
8.Interface with other departments involved in production when necessary for the purposes of communication and working towards solutions to production problems, labor management, and meeting all production schedules.
9.Review and revise departmental documents to ensure procedures and work instructions are clearly defined and ensure adherence to FSA and ISO Quality Systems.
10.Assist with implementation of new automated equipment to meet the demands of business growth.
11.Other duties as assigned by Management.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, business, distribution, engineering, logistics, or related discipline or an Associate degree with applicable experience.
•Experience in an ISO/FDA environment with prior leadership experience preferred.
•Must be dependable, well organized, possess good interpersonal skills, and be able to communicate effectively and efficiently, both orally and in writing.
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
•Knowledge of and ability to operate and problem solve issues with various machines, equipment, and devices such as automated manufacturing lines, Label Printers, Vision Systems, warehousing and distribution processes etc.
•Ability to plan, organize and prioritize departmental work to meet production schedules.
•Ability to anticipate potential problems and analyze existing problems to effectively participate in problem analysis resolution and/or recommend corrective action.
•Ability to use prudent judgment in various situations and make appropriate decisions within scope of responsibilities.
•Knowledge of general inventory control.
•Fork Truck/ Double Reach Fork Truck certification and Lifeline and Safety Harness Fall Protection.
**WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL DEMANDS:
The work environment is a climate-controlled biological/chemical laboratory. Occasional short durations to cold temperatures inside walk-in coolers. Ability to wear required laboratory clean room clothing (laboratory coats, hair bonnets, and beard covers (as applicable) and other safety/protective equipment (masks, gloves, and/or face shields for example) for up to two and a half hours consecutively. Travel demands for this position are estimated up to 5%.
