The Role

As a Fill Operator 1, you will help fill and label hematology, histology, immunology, and chemistry control products in a clean room environment. You will run filling and torque equipment, document your work carefully, and help make sure every vial that leaves your line meets our quality standards.

What You'll Do

  • Inspect vials, caps, and labels for defects, then rack vials and place tips and caps
  • Set up, operate, and adjust tabletop filling machines and torque machines
  • Verify and document fill volumes (volumetric and gravimetric methods) and cap torque
  • Complete labeling operations and verify vial counts
  • Verify and sign off on line clearance at the start and end of each operation
  • Build and maintain accurate filling and labeling documentation
  • Pull, identify, store, and deliver samples and documentation during filling operations
  • Stage carts of product for release
  • Follow aseptic procedures and keep work areas clean and contamination-free
  • Follow all safety guidelines and applicable FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) regulations
  • Raise process issues and concerns with management, and take on other duties as assigned

What You'll Bring

  • High school diploma, GED (General Educational Development), or demonstrated success in a related role
  • Dependability and strong organization
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • The ability to work cooperatively on a team
  • A sharp eye for detail: you can spot chips, breakage, size and color differences, and label defects
  • Comfort counting and segregating product by type, level, vial size, fill volume, and label requirements
  • The ability to read and understand Safety Data Sheets
  • Experience with filling, torque, or labeling equipment is helpful (the job uses Filamatic, torque, and Accraply labeling machines) 

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • Climate-controlled biological/chemical laboratory, with brief periods in walk-in coolers
  • Ability to wear clean room clothing and protective equipment (lab coat, hair bonnet, beard cover if applicable, mask, gloves, face shield) for up to 2.5 hours at a time
  • Medium work: occasionally exerting up to 40 lbs of force, frequently up to 20 lbs, and constantly up to 10 lbs
  • Standing for up to 2.5 hours at a time, plus walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, stooping, fingering, and grasping
  • No travel expected
